Jonah on Climate Change جونا بشأن تغير المناخ

I’d really like to know something, please educate me if you can. كنت حقا تريد ان تعرف شيئا ، يرجى تثقيف لي إذا كنت تستطيع. After leaving Egypt, the Israelites moaned and complained and worshiped false idols, and then spent 40 years wandering around in the desert being miserable. وبعد ان ترك مصر ، اسرائيل ، واشتكى من مشتكى ويعبد الاصنام الباطله ، وبعد ذلك أمضى 40 عاما في جميع انحاء تجول في الصحراء يجري باءسه.

Another time, God sent the world’s-worst-prophet to Nineveh, the ancient capital of Assyria one of the enemies of the God-people. ومرة اخرى ، ارسل الله world's - اسوأ النبي الى نينوي ، وهي العاصمة القديمة آشور من واحد من أعداء الله - من الناس. The reason I’m asking is that it seems to me that Global Warming is clearly the most critical issue any of us are likely to face in our lifetimes. السبب انا السؤال هو انه يبدو لي ان الاحترار العالمى ومن الواضح ان اهم قضية اي منا من المحتمل ان تواجه في حياتنا. If true, it has massive ramifications. واذا كان هذا صحيحا ، وقد اثار هاءله. Or try this one: did you know that 50% of all food produced by farms in America is wasted before anyone eats it? او جرب هذا واحد : هل تعلم أن 50 فى المائة من جميع الاغذيه التي تنتجها مزارع فى امريكا قبل أن يضيع أي شخص يأكل؟ That, if we somehow had the technology and willpower, all that wasted food in a year could meet half the annual import needs for the entire continent of Africa. انه ، بطريقة ما اذا كنا قد التكنولوجيا وقوة الاراده ، واهدر كل ما فى الغذاء فى نصف السنة لكي تتمكن من تلبية الاحتياجات من الواردات السنويه لكامل قارة افريقيا. That amount is just the wasted food from the UK. وهذا المبلغ هو مجرد اهدار للاغذية من المملكه المتحدة. Imagine the amount of wasted food from all the developed countries. تخيل مقدار الغذاء واهدر كل من البلدان المتقدمه النمو. Think of all the cost of producing that food, only for it to end up in the dustbin. اعتقد للجميع ان تكلفة انتاج الغذاء ، فقط لانها فى نهاية الامر الى سلة مهملات.

The problem is not the thousands of people in Egypt fighting over bread or the billions living in absolute poverty, who face an even more uncertain future due to climate change. المشكلة ليست الآلاف من الناس في مصر اكثر من الخبز أو القتال البلايين الذين يعيشون في فقر مدقع ، من مواجهة أكبر مستقبلا غامضا نتيجة لتغير المناخ. The problem is the small percentage of rich people who are taking more than their fair share: us . والمشكلة هي نسبة مءويه صغيرة من الاغنياء من الناس تأخذ أكثر من حصتها العادله : علينا.

I know many of us have been banging on about this for a long time. وانا اعلم ان كثيرين منا كان على أحداث ضجيجا حول هذا لفترة طويلة. And I know there are some churches which have really grasped the message. واعلم ان هناك بعض الكنائس التي قد استوعب الرسالة حقا. But is anyone actually prepared to repent of their wealthy lifestyles and face up to their responsibility for our greed which is causing the climate to change? ولكنها في الواقع اي شخص على استعداد للتوبة من الاثرياء واساليب الحياة والتصدي لمسؤوليتهم عن اعمالنا الجشع التي تتسبب في تغيير المناخ؟ OK, we might be prepared to change a few light bulbs, but is that honestly going to stop the tsunami that is coming? طيب ، ونحن قد تكون مستعدة لتغيير عدد قليل من المصابيح الكهرباءيه ، ولكن بأمانة هو ان الذهاب الى وقف تسونامي الذي يقترب؟

This morning in church, I heard something a bit like this from the pulpit - “Climate change is a fact. صباح هذا اليوم في الكنيسة ، سمعت شيئا قليلا من مثل هذا المنبر -- "تغير المناخ امر واقع. But thinking about it can paralyze us because of the magnitude of the problem. ولكن التفكير فيه يمكن ان يشل لنا نظرا لحجم هذه المشكلة. So I just want you to remember this: don’t panic, God is in control.” حتى انا فقط أريدك ان تذكر هذا : لا تقلق ، ان الله في السيطرة ".

Don’t panic? لا تقلق؟ Millions are dying because of the human greed of a few rich fat people, and the church is telling us “not to panic?” Whilst panicking might not be the best move in the face of a global catastrophe, surely repentance is. الملايين يموتون بسبب جشع الانسان عدد قليل من الناس الغنيه الدهن ، والكنيسة تقول لنا "لا الذعر؟" هلع في حين قد لا يكون افضل للتحرك في مواجهة كارثه عالمية ، ومن المؤكد ان التوبه. Costly repentance. التوبه مكلفه. The kind that says actually my lifestyle is totally wrong and I need to change my ways, fast. من النوع الذي يقول في الواقع ان اسلوب الحياة بلدي خاطءه تماما وانا في حاجة الى تغيير طرق بلدي ، وبسرعة. God being in control in some ways is irrelevant. ويجري مراقبة الله في بعض النواحي غير ذي صلة. From my bible knowledge, it seems quite likely to me that we are going to have to live with the consequences of our actions. من وجهة نظري معرفة الكتاب المقدس ، ويبدو لي من المحتمل جدا ان نحن نذهب الى ان تتعايش مع النتائج المترتبة على اعمالنا. God being in control does not necessarily offer a Get Out of Jail Free Card for the future. ويجري التحكم في الله لا توفر بالضروره الخروج من السجن بطاقه حرة للمستقبل. So what does this knowledge mean in our own lives, and how do we get the message out? فماذا تعني هذه المعرفه في منطقتنا يعيش ، وكيف نحصل الرسالة؟ How do we do better than Moses - with all his multi-media presentations and flashy graphics - and take lessons from the miserable, soaked, sick-smelling Jonah? كيف نفعل افضل من موسى -- مع كل ما قدمه من والعروض المتعددة الوسائط ومبهرج الرسومات -- واتخاذ العبر من باءسه ، مصاصي ، المرضى - الاشتمام جونا؟ Is there any point in even trying? هل هناك اي نقطة حتى في محاولة؟
