Expelled: An Opportunity Lost طرد : فقدت فرصة

The blogosphere has erupted following the first viewings of the new Ben Stein documentary “ Blogosphere وقد نشبت في اعقاب اول من المراقبات الجديدة وثائقي بن شتاين " Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed طرد : لا يسمح للاستخبارات “. ". Depending on who you talk to, it is either about: اعتمادا على التحدث مع من انت ، اما عن :

a) censorship and suppression of scientists who voice support for Intelligent Design (ID) أ) الرقابة وقمع العلماء من صوت لدعم التصميم الذكي (كود)

or او

b) undermining Darwinian evolutionary thought in an attempt to favour ID. ب) في تقويض الفكر الداروني التطوري ، في محاولة منها لصالح الهوية.

The first topic sounds worthwhile, until some basic research is done into the cases of claimed censorship or suppression. الموضوع الاول اصوات جديره بالاهتمام ، حتى أن بعض البحوث الأساسية ويتم في هذه الحالات للرقابة او قمع المطالب. Expelled Exposed طرد يتعرض goes into depth on each of the cases to show the fallaciousness of the arguments (to pick a favorite: you can’t be fired by someone you never worked for). عودة الى عمق وغنى عن كل قضية من هذه القضايا لاظهار التضليل من الحجج) على انتقاء المفضل : لا يمكنك ان اطلقوا النار من قبل شخص كنت ولم يعمل ابدا ل).

In addition, the وبالاضافة الى ذلك ، recent trial in Dover المحاكمه الاخيرة في دوفر was debating whether or not ID is within the bounds of science or whether it falls into the territory of philosophy or theology. تم مناقشة ما اذا كان هو معرف ام لا ضمن حدود العلم ، او ما اذا كان يقع في اقليم الفلسفه أو اللاهوت. Few parents who are hell-bent on having their children learn creationism ID would want them learning alchemy, kabbalist magic or astrology, but those would all fit under the purview of the new ’science’. قلة هم الاباء والامهات من جحيم بنت على ان تكون لهم هوية يتعلم الاطفال من شأنه ان نظرية الخلق يريد لهم ان تعلم الكيمياء ، وعلم التنجيم أو السحر kabbalist ، ولكن من شأنه ان جميع هذه صالح تحت اشراف الجديدة 'العلم'. With that understanding, it is no surprise then that many scientists, including some who personally believe in a creator God, see the introduction of ID as a threat to their discipline. مع هذا الفهم ، ومن ثم ليس من المستغرب ان العديد من العلماء ، بما في ذلك بعض من شخصيا اعتقد في الله الخالق ، وأنظر ادخال رقم تعريف بوصفه تهديدا للانضباطهم.

Expelled turns the issue, which could be covered gracefully, into a religious war of sorts. طرد لتتحول هذه القضية ، التي يمكن تغطيتها برشاقه ، الى حرب دينية من نوع ما. Scientific American asked the assistant producer of Expelled, Mark Mathis والعلم الامريكى وطلب مساعد منتج للطرد ، مارك Mathis , why every scientist advocating evolution was an atheist: there are plenty of examples of Christians or other believers who work within and advocate evolutionary biology - why were none in the movie? ، لماذا كل هذا التطور عالم الدعوة الى ملحد : هناك العديد من الامثله الاخرى من المسيحيين او من المؤمنين والدعوة الى العمل داخل الأحياء التطوري -- لماذا كانت لا شيء في الفيلم؟ The response was that this would have confused viewers. وكان الرد ان هذا من شأنه ان يكون الخلط بين المشاهدين. Confused meaning the straw man that only atheists believe in evolution would fall apart, exposing a major flaw in the thoughts proposed in the film. الخلط بين اي رجل سترو نعتقد ان الملحدين فقط في تطور من شأنه ان ينهار ، وتعريض وجود خطأ كبير في الافكار المقترحة في الفيلم. Finally, Mark C. Chu-Carroll from the Good Math, Bad Math blog writes a devastating critique of the association the film makes between Darwinism and horrors such as the holocaust: واخيرا ، مارك تشو - جيم كارول من حسن والرياضيات ، والرياضيات سيئة بلوق يكتب نقد مدمر للجمعية الفيلم يجعل من بين الداروينيه وأهوال المحرقة مثل :

What difference does it make? هل ما هو الفرق؟

Does the truth become less true because some idiot used it to justify something awful? هل حقيقة ان يصبح أقل من الصحيح لان بعض أبله انها تستخدم لتبرير شيء فظيع؟

Science isn’t morality. وليس العلم والاخلاق. Science describes what is. ويصف ما هو العلم. Morality defines our understanding of right and wrong. الاخلاق فهمنا للتعرف الصواب والخطأ. Science doesn’t tell us what’s morally right and wrong. العلم لا يقول لنا ما هو الصواب والخطأ من الناحية الاخلاقيه. It tells us what is. وهو يخبرنا ما هي. It can allows us to reason from what we know, to determine the effect of an action, which can allow us to decide whether that action is morally right or wrong. ويمكن ان يتيح لنا ان ما من سبب ونحن نعرف ، لتحديد تأثير عمل ، والتي يمكن ان تسمح لنا ان تقرر ما اذا كان هذا الاجراء من الناحية الاخلاقيه على خطأ ام على صواب. But the science doesn’t tell us what’s moral. ولكن العلم لا يقول لنا ما هو اخلاقي.

What Stein and friends are doing is trying to say that it’s appropriate to judge science based on what kinds of moral judgements a lunatic can derive from it - and further, they’re basically trying to argue for suppressing the truth when they don’t like the results of trying to infer morality from that truth. شتاين والاصدقاء ما تقوم به تحاول ان تقول انها مناسبة للحكم على العلم استنادا الى ما هي انواع الاحكام الاخلاقيه اي مجنون يمكن ان تجنيها من انها -- وعلاوة على ذلك ، انهم في الاساس محاولة لقمع للقول الحقيقة عندما دون ' ر مثل نتائج محاولة لاستنتاج أن من الأخلاق والحقيقة.

He goes on to describe that you can draw some fairly bizarre ethics from the laws of thermodynamics, but that doesn’t invalidate physics. وقال انه يمضي الى وصف ذلك يمكنك استخلاص بعض الاخلاقيات غريب الى حد ما من قوانين الديناميكا الحراريه ، ولكن ذلك لا يبطل الفيزياء. In my humble opinion, having followed the making and the build up to this film for some months now, I am disappointed; not so much that it appears to be a crock on par with a Michael Moore pseudo-documentary, but rather because it could have been so much better. في رأيي المتواضع ، وقد اتبعت في صنع وبناء على هذا الفيلم لعدة أشهر الآن ، انني اشعر بخيبه أمل ؛ لا تتعلق كثيرا انه يبدو كما لو كان قطعة الخزف على قدم المساواة مع مايكل مور الزاءفه وثائقي ، وانما لانه يمكن ان وقد تم ذلك أفضل بكثير. A balanced, open discussion over the naturalistic assumptions that the field of science works with and whether there are merits to broadening the discussion of the discipline to exploring other phenomena is a worthwhile discussion. متوازنه ، خلال مناقشة مفتوحة طبيعي ان الافتراضات ميدان العلم وتعمل مع وعما اذا كانت هناك مزايا لتوسيع نطاق المناقشه من الانضباط إلى البحث في ظواهر أخرى جديره بالاهتمام هي المناقشه. Rather than pulling soundbytes from interviews that people were conned into allowing, a real discussion from bright people on all sides of the issue, arguing pros, cons, and the evidence involved would be a fantastic work that would stimulate discussion and open ears on all sides to hearing that ‘yes, they may disagree with me but they’re not all crazy’. بدلا من سحب soundbytes من المقابلات ان الناس الى السماح conned ، مناقشة حقيقية مشرقة من الناس من جميع الجوانب للقضية ، معتبرا الايجابيات ، والدستوري ، والادله المعنية سيكون رائع الاعمال التي من شأنها ان تحفز النقاش وآذان مفتوحة على جميع الاطراف للاستماع الى ان 'نعم ، قد نختلف مع انهم لي ولكن ليس كل مجنون'.

In the end, I simply do not see anything of merit with the way the film was made; from lying straight out to get interviewees off guard, to stacking ’student’ audiences with extras, to using classic propaganda poses, music and cuts in order to demonize one position and extol another: none of it comes off as loving, Christlike or worthy of attention. وفي النهاية ، انا ببساطة لا نرى اي شيء من الجداره مع الطريقة التي الفيلم ؛ من الكذب مباشرة الى الحصول على مقابلات من الحرس ، لتنضيد 'طالب' الجماهير مع إضافات ، ليشكل استخدام الدعايه الكلاسيكيه والموسيقى واجراء تخفيضات في النظام تشويه موقف واحد ومجد آخر : لا شيء من الامر كما من المحبة ، أو رباني جديره بالاهتمام.

May we learn from this mistake, and rather than playing into the world’s win/lose dichotomy, let us draw people by our willingness to listen to those who disagree with us, even as we hold firm to those things that form our foundations. هل لنا أن نتعلم من هذا الخطأ ، وبدلا من اللعب فى العالم ان فوز / خسارة الانقسام ، دعونا اجتذاب الناس استعدادنا للاستماع الى تلك من يختلفون معنا ، حتى ونحن شركة لعقد تلك الأشياء التي تشكل الأسس لدينا.
