Christian Anarchism Conference: August 10-11
Written by Mark Van Steenwyk : April 4, 2007
I’m thinking of going to the upcoming Jesus Radicals conference:

From the website:
August 10-11, 2007
Loras College
Dubuque, Iowa
Contact: jesusradicals AT jesusradicals.comPeace is more than the absence of war. It is more than temporarily restraining physical abuse and ending only human oppression. In this fifth annual conference, we will explore our struggle for peace in all of its forms from anarchist and Christian perspectives.
Together, we will explore different facets of peacemaking — peace with creation, our neighbors and our enemies. In addition to sessions such as Practical Ecology, Contemporary Anarchisms and The Problem with Prisons, we will also have opportunities for open discussion and skill-sharing. Get detailed session and housing info, and register to attend.

Christarchy! is a growing network of small groups for people who want to put the ethical teachings of Jesus into practice.
Submergent is a network of leaders who, embracing the Anabaptist impulse, are living into the Kingdom of God in a postmodern, post-colonial, post-Christian world. Together, we will re-baptize the Christian imagination!
Anchored in the West Bank neighborhood of Minneapolis, Missio Dei is committed to following Jesus' way of peace, simplicity, prayer, and hospitality.
The Missio Dei Breviary includes morning and evening prayers for one month. Edited (and freely shared) by Missio Dei, it draws primarily upon the Gospels, reflects Anabaptist convictions, and emphasizes missional commitment.

This would be great to go to, if I can find the money. I’m planning to do Ekklesia Project this year. You?
I’ve put it on my calendar, but it depends upon the expense of the trip. Unfortunately, my personal finances are in the “shitter” right now. It is profoundly frustrating, because I find myself with an ever-growing list of opportunity to do some really interesting ministry and speaking and whatnot, but it is mostly marginal stuff and therefore doesn’t pay much.
Mark,
if we register soon we can get one of the 4 remaining tent spots offered. as there will be no registration fee i would imagine we could make it a pretty cheap affair. besides you know me i’m pretty resourceful. we’ll make it work.
