A Call for Contributors

Written by Mark Van Steenwyk : December 10, 2007

jesusmanifesto.jpgSeveral months ago, JesusManifesto.com became collaborative. Now there are a handful of authors writing for Jesus Manifesto. But it seemed like too much content–from too many people–for it to be contained within one blog. And so, I redesigned the site into a fully-functioning webzine. But if Jesus Manifesto is going to successfully evolve to a webzine, I need your help.

We have a new feature: submit-an-article. Now anyone can submit an article. We’re looking for folks to join their voices with ours. Jesus Manifesto is looking for content that explores the way of Jesus in the American empire. Jesus Manifesto has an Anabaptist spirit and an emerging church sensibility, though you don’t have to associate with either of these movements to write with us. We publish articles in the following areas:

  • Praxis: In PRAXIS, we explore the hands-on nature of the way of Jesus. How do we follow Jesus in the American empire? What does this look like for our lives, our ministries, our churches? How can we be hospitable to the stranger?
  • Doxis: In DOXIS, we explore the big questions of the faith: Who is Jesus? What is the Church? What does it mean to be human? Etc.
  • Culture: In CULTURE, we explore issues of culture–film, sociological trends, postmodernity, politics…you name it.
  • Aesthetics: In AESTHETICS, we explore beauty through our senses–images, music, poetry, prose, culinary arts. We’ll entertain any artistic submission.
  • Satire: In SATIRE, we revel in the absurdity of our lives. Without being mean-spirited, we want to use humor to wax prophetic. Consider it our own little Onion.
