Submissions
The Jesus Manifesto (JM) is a reader-driven webzine. We welcome articles, essays, poems, works of satire, short stories, etc. exploring the way of Jesus in the shadow of Empire. You must register for this site before submitting content (more on that below).
Please read the following guidelines before submitting your work:
Word length is flexible, but please don’t send us articles that would take more than 5-10 minutes to read. Serial articles are acceptable, but we generally prefer that you submit the series in its entirety within the same day. We reserve the right to edit for length and clarity
JM is interested in publishing articles on radical ideas, praxis, spirituality, cultural critique, politics, satire, book reviews, CD reviews, and works of fiction that have spiritual/economic/political themes. JM wants thought provoking content that will help readers explore the social, political, and spiritual implications of following the way of Jesus.
We try to publish new articles three to five days a week. If a submission is rejected, please do not get discouraged about sending future work. There are a number of reasons we may decide to pass on an article–quality isn’t our only concern. Time constraints do not allow us to respond to you with reasons why a particular piece may have been rejected. Previous success in getting a submission posted does not guarantee publication of future work.
Please do proofread your work before sending it in: check your grammar, spelling, look for typos, etc. The more editing we have to do, the longer it takes for us to post your work … if we decide to at all. We don’t mind fixing problems after a piece has been posted, but it can be a pain.
We will try to fact check articles as time permits, but time is limited, so please fact check your work.
It is understood that articles published on JM do not necessarily reflect the views of its editors or all contributing writers. Conversely, statements and positions by the editor do not necessarily reflect the views of JM’s contributing writers.
Writers retain full copyright control of their work.
We appreciate your thoughtful submissions…JM exists because of writers like you. :)
