Dear Pastor Ellens, عزيزي القس ellens ،

I انا read your recent article. اقرأ المادة الاخيرة. ..and could remain silent no more! .. ويمكن ان يظل صامتا لا أكثر! Suburban-dwellers like you grieve me. سكان الضواحى مثلك لي يحزنون. I too was a suburbanite once. وانا ايضا كان الساكن في الضاحيه مرة واحدة. But two years ago, I moved into the city to embrace a radical life of solidarity with the poor. ولكن منذ عامين ، انتقلت الى المدينة لاحتضان الحياة جذريه للتضامن مع الفقراء. My hope is, that in response to my response to your article, that you too will leave your wicked suburban ways and move into the city. واملي هو ، انه استجابة لردي على مقالك ، عليكم ايضا ان تغادر الخاص بك الشرس الضواحي وسبل الانتقال الى المدينة. Jesus loves you too much for you to remain in the suburbs. يسوع يحبك أكثر مما ينبغي لك ان تبقى في الضواحي.

A couple years ago, I head Shane Claiborne speak. قبل بضع سنوات ، وأنا رئيس Shane claiborne الكلام. Man, he opened my eyes to what it REALLY means to follow Jesus. رجل ، قال انه فتح عيني على حقيقته وسيلة لاتباع يسوع. After a couple of weeks of living in solidarity with the poor, I decided to help start a new monastic community in the City so that the people of America would see what Jesus REALLY looks like. بعد اسبوعين من الذين يعيشون في التضامن مع الفقراء ، فقد قررت أن تساعد بداية جديدة للمجتمع رهباني في المدينة حتى يتسنى للشعب امريكا ان نرى ما يشبه يسوع حقا. My wife and I, and some of my friends from my Christian College, bought a house in a really dumpy part of the City and began our work. أنا وزوجتي ، وبعض من اصدقائي من كلية بلدي المسيحي ، اشترى منزلا في dumpy الحقيقي هو جزء من المدينة ، وبدأ عملنا. We call ourselves the 23rd Avenue Radical House Collective . ونحن ندعو أنفسنا الثالثة والعشرين وسيلة جذريه البيت الجماعي. I’m the lead member…which is kinda like the pastor, but I don’t believe in pastors, so I call myself something different. انا عضو يؤدي kinda… وهو مثل القس ، ولكن لا اعتقد في القساوسه ، وذلك اعطى الكلمه لنفسي شيئا مختلفا.

It has been a hard couple of years, but I think we have learned some lessons that if everyone would take seriously would radically change our nation forever: لقد كان من الصعب عامين ، ولكن اعتقد اننا تعلمنا بعض الدروس انه اذا كان الجميع من شأنه ان تأخذ مأخذ الجد من شأنه ان يحدث تغييرا جذريا في امتنا الى الابد :

1. Stop eating meat. Meat usually takes up a lot of space. وقف أكل اللحوم. اللحوم وعادة ما يستغرق الكثير من الفضاء. Plants don’t need as much space. نباتات لا تحتاج الى قدر الفضاء. So by eating veggies, we’re freeing up a bunch of space for poor people to move into. Veggies بذلك عن طريق الاكل ، نحن نقوم تحرير مجموعة أ الفضاءيه للفقراء للانتقال الي. And then we won’t need وبعد ذلك اننا لن نحتاج 9.2 earths per USAmerican to sustain the world 9،2 لكل usamerican الارضيه للحفاظ على العالم .
2. Garden. Growing stuff yourself saves you money, and provides vegetables so that you can make vegan soups for homeless people. الحديقة. المتزايد مادة نفسك يوفر عليك المال ، ويوفر الخضار بحيث يمكنك جعل الشوربات النباتي للمشردين. They don’t usually like the taste, but it is good for them. انهم لا عادة مثل الطعم ، ولكن إنه لأمر طيب بالنسبة لهم.
3. Bicycle everywhere. 4. Wear dreadlocks. Sure, dreads are high maintenance at first…but after a while they take care of themselves, giving you more time to spend praying or bicycling or being in solidarity with people. ارتداء dreadlocks. المؤكد ان الفزع صيانة مرتفعة في البداية… ولكن بعد حين انها تأخذ في امورهم بانفسهم ، مما يتيح لك المزيد من الوقت لقضاء الصلاة او ركوب بالدرجات الهواءيه او في التضامن مع الشعب.
5. Don’t worry about smelling. Part of our problem in the US is that we care too much about grooming and looking respectable. لا تقلق بشأن الاشتمام. جزءا من المشكلة في الولايات المتحدة هو اننا إزاء الكثير من الرعايه والاستماله تبحث محترمه. By remaining unwashed, we stand in solidarity with the homeless, who are unable to bathe regularly. Unwashed المتبقية من قبل ، فاننا نقف متضامنين مع مأوى لهم ، من غير قادرين على الاستحمام بانتظام. I think they really appreciate that. واعتقد انها حقا نقدر ذلك.
6. Make things yourself. For example, I don’t buy regular coffee…even buying fair trade coffee is for poseurs. ان يكون الأمر بنفسك. فعلى سبيل المثال ، انا لا شراء البن العاديه… حتى شراء التجارة العادله البن لالمتكلفون. What I do is buy green organic fair trade beans and roast them myself using a popcorn popper. ما أفعله هو شراء الاخضر العضوي والتجارة العادله والفول والشواء نفسي لهم باستخدام الفشار بوبر. There is nothing the poor like better than really excellent coffee. وليس هناك شيء مثل الفقراء فعلا ممتازة افضل من القهوه. Or other hand-made stuff. ومن جهة اخرى او من صنع الأشياء.
7. Live with friends. By living together, you save money that you could theoretically give to the poor, if you have jobs. العيش مع بعض الاصدقاء ، من جانب الذين يعيشون معا ، وتوفير المال لكم انكم يمكن من الناحية النظريه لاعطاء الفقراء ، واذا كان لديك وظيفة. And you can pray together more from ويمكنك ان نصلي معا على نحو اكثر من prayer books that are cool كتب صلاة التي هي كوول because I grew up in a church that ripped on formal prayers. لأنني نشأت في الكنيسة الرسمية ان ممزق على الصلاة.
8. Do art projects with neighborhood children. We have an artist in our community, so we do art projects with kids. هل حي المشاريع الفنية مع الاطفال. فنان لدينا في مجتمعنا ، ونحن نفعل ذلك مع المشاريع الفنية والصغار. We believe that training young poor kids how to do art will give them hope. ونحن نعتقد ان تدريب شباب اطفال الفقراء كيفية القيام الفن تعطيهم الأمل. And when they grow up, they’ll be able to get a job as artists, instead of living a life of poverty. وحين يكبر ، وانها سوف تكون قادرة على الحصول على وظيفة الفنانون ، وبدلا من الذين يعيشون حياة الفقر.
9. Protest stuff. The marginalized need empowered white folks to protest stuff. احتجاجا على الاشياء المهمشه على ضرورة تمكين ابناء البيضاء للاحتجاج على مادة خام. By adding our powerful voices with their weak voices, we can stick it to the man, and as a result, the man may change his ways. لدينا باضافه أصوات قوية مع ضعف الاصوات ، ونحن يمكن ان العصا الى الرجل ، ونتيجة لذلك ، يجوز للرجل أن يغير اسمه الطرق.
10. Vote for Obama. We have common ground on this last on, Pastor Ellens. التصويت لصالح اوباما لدينا ارضية مشتركة بشأن هذه المساله الاخيرة على ، القس ellens. You see, Obama fills me with hope too! ترى ، تملأ لي اوباما مع الامل ايضا! A vote for Obama is a vote for hope. اوباما للتصويت هو تصويت للأمل. If you vote for anyone else, you don’t care about poor people. اذا كنت في التصويت لصالح اي شخص آخر ، انت لا تبالي الفقراء.

So Pastor Ellens, I hope you can see that we offer a better way. القس ellens ذلك ، وآمل يمكنك ان ترى ان نقدم بطريقة افضل. An incarnational, radical, missional way that follows the way of Jesus. وهو incarnational ، جذريه ، على نحو التالي missional طريق يسوع.
