Allereerstee „het Te voorschijn komen“ Kerk Amish

De allereerstee „het te voorschijn komen“ kerk Amish zal op 23 December enkel buiten Columbus, Ohio lanceren. De kerk, die de mengsels roept van Solomon „van de Schuur“ snijkantverering met gevoeligheden Amish. Zijn pastor, Jacob Yoder (die „Jay“ verkiest worden genoemd) gelooft dat Amish van nieuwe stijlen van verering kan leren. „Wij zijn klaar voor nieuw iets… vers iets,“ zegt Pastor Jay.
Wanneer gevraagd over zijn bronnen van inspiratie, antwoordde Pastor Jay (die een ziel-flard in plaats van een traditionele baard Amish) draagt door te zeggen: „ik beteken, daar was ik, regelend met kerk `gebruikelijk' toen ik op het geschrift van Brian McLaren struikelde. Kwamen Ik vond als zijn woorden net uit mijn eigen hoofd, weet u het? Ik realiseerde dat ik een postmodern persoon Amish… ik moest was pre-modernisme voor een authentieker geloof verwerpen.“
De verering bij de Schuur van Solomon wijst op tradities Amish… bijvoorbeeld, zijn de mannen en de vrouwen afzonderlijk gezet, maar in plaats van banken, zit de congregatie op lagen in hun verering een ruimte-vernieuwde schuur. De vrouwen dragen nog hoofdbekledingen, maar veel van de bekledingen hebben flarden die in hen worden gezaaid die zeggen „een andere wereld“ mogelijk is of „Jesus.“ dakloos was Veel van de vereringsliederen zijn eenvoudig eigentijdse pop wijsjes Amish met worshipful toegevoegde lyrische gedichten. En terwijl Amish de vereringsdiensten altijd kaars-of lantaarn-deze nieuwe heup hebben gebruikt, Amish kerk drapes zwarte doek rond hun voorlopig heiligdom.
Miriam Kauffman is een lid van het kernteam in de afgelopen 5 maanden geweest. „ik heb definitief een plaats gevonden waar ik… waar het o.k. is om vragen te stellen,“ zeg Mej. behoor. Kauffman. “Really, Solomon’s Barn is about questions, rather than answers.”
While many young people are excited about a new church, just for them, not everyone is happy with these changes. Hiram Grebel–a local Amish Bishop–believes that this new “emerging” church is coming close to heresy: “This is just a neo-English cult.”
Pastor Jay isn’t worried: “There are a number of us who are embracing a post-Amish understanding of our faith. Things are changing, and we need to be relevant to young, post-modern Amish young adults.”
Director of Emergent, Tony Jones, agrees: “There are vibrant new communities emerging from many denominations. Controversy comes with the territory. I think what Jay is doing is great. He’s the future of the movement.”

By the way, are all the Yoder’s mennonites?
Traditionally, Yoders are Mennonite or Amish. Though I am sure that not all Yoders of the past are Anabaptists. And, of course, some Yoders have left the Mennonite church over the years.
