Enkel wat u wilt. Wanneer het over muziek komt, kunt u krijgen enkel wat u wilt. Geen behoefte om aan de lofty concepten een album voor te leggen. Luister enkel aan uw favoriete 2 liederen op dat album. De dingen zoals context zijn niet van belang. Het kunstenaarsbericht is secundair aan uw wensen. Alle gebieden van het leven schijnen om in het paradigma van de consument, maar vooral vermaak te verschuiven. Geen behoefte om op reclamespots te letten. Geen behoefte een TV zelfs om te bezitten. Enkel kan het bergstroom de episoden u wachten op, en gebruikt unbox of itunes voor de episoden u nu wenst. Netflix staat zelfs 17 uren van de de mening-op-vraag diensten toe als u niet twee dagen op dat volgende dvd kunt wachten om aan te komen.
Ik ben de consument. Ik wil wat ik wil. Zonder de pluis. Wanneer ik het wil.
Het zelfde zou, zou ik debatteren, met ons geloof kunnen worden gezegd.
Het allen begonnen met kleine aantallen. Wij begonnen aantallen aan onze Bijbel toe te voegen zodat het gemakkelijker zou zijn om dingen… gemakkelijker te vinden om onze favoriete passages van de Bijbel te citeren. Dan begonnen de mensen lezend enkel die passages en andere degenen te negeren. Wij hebben zelfs een speciaal codagesysteem om deze speciale kleine passages van verwijzingen te voorzien. John 3:16. 1 Corinthians 10:13.
Met de ontwikkeling van software en het Web, moeten wij zelfs geen pagina's wegknippen om die favoriete passages te vinden. Wij typen enkel in deze kleine code om net aan die passages te springen en u ziet enkel wat u wilt zien.
Wij zijn altijd selectieve lezers geweest. Maar nu is het gemakkelijker dan ooit. These days, you don’t have to even encounter the rest of the album of Scripture. You can just download your favorite songs.

By the way, I recommend the new “Books of the Bible” Bible. It removes those little numbers and forces an actual reading of the text.

I think it would add confusion to take out the numbers and chapters. But I do like how The Message has passages. So the thought isn’t broken up. I wish all versions were like that.
I think the problem is worse than what you described. Long before all those passages were written, people heard God through nature -”the heavens declare the glory of God”. Today, people try and separate the two: faith is faith and science is science; or try and minimize one at the expense of the other: we can’t accept certain scientific conclusions because they don’t fit with our ideas about faith, or visa-versa, we can’t accept some principles of faith because they conflict with our ideas about science/logic. If we really are trying to follow Jesus as the way, the truth, and the life, we have to take truth however it comes. And since God’s ways are higher than our ways, it probably won’t fit neatly into our current paradiem.

I bought the “Books of the Bible” Bible a couple of weeks ago. I really really like it. I can let go of worrying about chapter and verse, let go of what is and isn’t “red letter,” and just READ the story. It’s amazing what you notice and soak in that way.
