A Review of Soul Graffiti…Introduction استعراض الروح الشعارات مقدمة…

For almost a month, I’ve been promising to give a review of Mark Scandrette’s new book لمدة شهر تقريبا ، وانا كنت واعدة لاعادة النظر في علامة scandrette الجديد في الكتاب Soul Graffiti روح الكتابة على الجدران . I thought about doing a one-page review, but rejected that idea. لقد فكرت به من صفحة واحدة الاستعراض ، ولكنهم رفضوا هذه الفكره. Instead, I want to give the book more of my attention…I want to write a worthy review. وبدلا من ذلك ، انني اريد ان اعطي اكثر من كتاب انتباهي… أريد ان أكتب تستحق النظر. But before I begin my review, let me make a disclaimer: I am friends with Mark Scandrette. ولكن قبل ان أبدأ استعراضي ، اسمحوا لي ان ابدي تنويه : انا مع اصدقاء العلامه scandrette. He is one of my favorite people. وهو واحد من الناس المفضل. I haven’t known him that long, but he’s the sort of guy that I’ve already decided I want to know for the rest of my life. انني لم يعرف له ان طويلة ، ولكن هو نوع من ان الرجل لقد قمت بالفعل قررت انني اريد ان اعرف لبقية حياتي. Folks like that are rare in life–the sort of person you instantly connect to. ان مثل اهل نادرة للحياة في هذا النوع من شخص الى ربط لكم فورا. From what I hear, he has that sort of effect on people–he’s creative, charismatic, and a bit eccentric. من ما اسمع ، انه ذلك النوع من تأثير على الناس وقال انه الخلاقه ، الجذابه ، والغريب الأطوار بعض الشيء. And so, given my affinity for the guy, I am a biased reviewer. وذلك ، ونظرا لألفة بلدي الرجل ، وأنا منحاز مستعرض.

On the flip side, however, my affinity for Mark gives me the benefit of knowing something that many people don’t know about their authors: is this author practicing what he preaches? على الجانب الآخر ، الا ان الانجذاب للاحتفال بلدي تتيح لي الاستفادة من معرفة شيء ان الكثير من الناس لا يعرفون عن مؤلفيها : هذا المؤلف هو ممارسة ما يبشر به؟ The answer is: “Yes.” Though Mark travels around a bit speaking, he isn’t one of those authors who writes abstractly about ideas they’ve barely explored. والجواب هو : "نعم". علامة على الرغم من يسافر في انحاء تحدث قليلا ، لانه لا أحد من هؤلاء المؤلفين من يكتب عن افكار تجريديه انها بالكاد قد قمت استكشاف. Soul Graffiti has been getting some buzz, here and there, but not enough buzz. روح الكتابة على الجدران وقد تم الحصول على بعض الطنين ، هنا وهناك ، ولكنه ليس كافيا طنين. It isn’t organized by trite chapter titles and nifty sidebar comments. انها ليست التي نظمتها trite الفصل عناوين وتعليقات nifty الشريط الجانبي. Most mediocre books only require a skim and you’ve got the meat. متوسط معظم الكتب الا يتطلب المقشود وكنت قد حصلت على اللحوم. You know the books–one needs only read the chapter titles, the first and last paragraphs of each chapter, and the conclusion to get the gist and then move on. انت تعرف الكتب - لا يحتاج المرء سوى قراءة عناوين الفصول ، الأول والأخير لفقرات كل فصل من فصول ، وخاتمة للحصول على الفحوي وبعد ذلك الانتقال. But Soul Graffit needs to be embraced. ولكن الروح graffit يحتاج الى احتضان. You must emerse yourselve within its pages. يجب عليك emerse yourselve داخل صفحاتها. I tried to skim it and found myself PROFOUNDLY frustrated. حاولت ان المقشود انها وجدت نفسي عميق بالاحباط. But then I began to read…to actually read through the book. ولكن بعد ذلك بدأت ليصبح نصها كما يلي… فعلا من خلال قراءة هذا الكتاب. Once I gave the book the sort of attention I only pay to “literature” did it begin to give up its treasures. وبمجرد ان القى الكتاب هذا النوع من الاهتمام انا لا تدفع الا الى "الادب" انها لم تبدأ بالتخلي عن الكنوز.

And that is what this book is: it is literature. وهذا ما هو هذا الكتاب : ومن الادب. It is prose. ومن النثر. It isn’t the trite eruptions of a would-be writer. انها ليست من الانفجارات trite أ - من شأنه أن يكون الكاتب. It is the work of a craftsman. ومن عمل حرفي إ.

The preface sets off the tone for the books. التمهيد لهجة مجموعات من الكتب ل. In the first paragraph, the stage is set: في الفقره الاولى ، المرحلة هو مجموعة المبادئ والقواعد :

This book is an exploration of the that way of life. هذا الكتاب هو استكشاف للان طريقة الحياة. And instead of exploring it abstractly, it firmly roots itself within the life and experience of Mark Scandrette and his adventures in San Francisco. وبدلا من التنقيب فيه تجريديه من الجذور نفسها بقوة داخل الحياة وتجربة وصاحب العلامه scandrette مغامرات في سان فرانسيسكو. But–and here’s the thing I enjoy the most about Soul Graffiti –it doesn’t do so stupidly. ولكن - وهنا الشيء الذي استمتع به اكثر عن روح الكتابة على الجدران - وهي لا تفعل ذلك بغباء. I find that most most books in the “Christian Living” or “Ministry” sections of the Christian book store are not only poorly written, but also insulting to my intellegence. أجد ان معظم الكتب في معظم "العيش المسيحي" او "الوزاره" أبواب مخزن الكتب المسيحيه ليست فقط سيئة مكتوبة ، وانما ايضا اهانة لبلدي intellegence.

The introduction continues to set the stage for the rest of the book–it cries out for an integrated faith that stands up in the midst of our fragmented lives. مقدمة لا تزال مهد السبيل لبقية الكتاب - وهو من اصل لصرخات متكامل النية التي تقف وحتى في خضم حياة مجزاه لدينا. It is in the midst of this fragmentation that our souls cry out for a life that makes sense–one that “clicks.” We don’t long for a system of thought–for a Jesus who simply paid the price for our sins or who helps us get through the bad times. انه في خضم هذه التجزءه ان تصرخ النفوس ، لأنه يجعل من الحياة - واحد بمعنى أن "نقرات." نحن لا طويلة لوضع نظام للتفكير ليسوع من مجرد دفع ثمن من اجل خطايانا أو من يساعدنا من خلال الحصول على اوقات سيئة. We long for a radical Christ who is present in our lives–whose eyes dance with creativity and energy. ونحن لالطويلة جذري من هو هذا المسيح في حياتنا - والتي العيون الرقص مع الابداع والطاقة. Scandrette depicts Jesus as a Companion (whose arms are open wide to all people), an Artist (whose imagination explored the depths of God’s kingdom), a Healer (who was present to the hungry, thirsty, sick, lonely, and imprisoned), and a Mystic (who dwelled in God’s presence and found, through contemplative prayer, the power to love). كما يصور يسوع scandrette مصاحب (الاسلحة التي هي مفتوحة لجميع الناس على نطاق واسع) ، فنان (الخيال الذي استكشاف اعماق الله المملكه) ، والمعالج (من كان حاضرا الى الجياع ، العطشي ، والمرضى ، وحيدا ، والمسجونين (، والصوفي (من سكن في وجود الله وجدت ، من خلال تاملي الصلاة ، والقدرة على الحب).

Scandrette invites us on a journey–to experience THIS Jesus and and follow in his footsteps. Scandrette تدعو لنا عن رحلة الى هذه التجربه واتباع يسوع وفي هذه الخطوة. Soul Graffiti is a call to discipleship in our post-Christian, fragmented world. الروح والكتابات على الجدران هو دعوة الى التلمذه في برامجنا لمرحلة ما بعد المسيحيه ، عالم مجزا.
