I graduated high school in the early 90’s, and I remember the “Put God in schools” debate well. Eu me formei ensino médio, no início dos anos 90, e lembro-me do "God Put nas escolas" debate bem. When I first saw Carmen on the clip I kind of chuckled because I remember going to see him in concert, then I thought I should apologize to everyone I went to high school with and talk to them more about Jesus than their sin. I just watched Miracle with Kurt Russell and thought about the patriotic themes and religious syncretism in that movie. The best thing about that movie is that the US hockey team won by virtue of its willingness to learn from its opponents and subvert our individualism to act as a team, putting the name on the front before the name on the back. These are definitely Christian values, but they’re not necessarily typical of the USA today and its not like we own the property rights on them.
