Tomorrow, I’m heading out of town for a few days of staff training with InterVarsity. Wilberforce is over-hyped…but I don’t disrespect what he has done. Wilberforce - هو أكثر من روج له… ولكنني لا الازدراء على ما قام به. I think the exemplar for Christian social action is someone like Martin Luther King Jr, rather than Wilberforce. واعتقد ان نموذج للعمل الاجتماعي المسيحي هو شخص مثل مارتن لوثر كينغ الابن ، بدلا من Wilberforce.
I don’t see how that reinforces the impotence of the church. ولا أرى كيف أن يعزز عجز الكنيسة.
It’s one of those hands vs feet sort of thing. انها واحدة من تلك الايدي مقابل اقدام النوع من الشيء. The feet are not less foundational because the hands are capable of doing somethings better. اقدام لا يقل عن التاسيسيه لان الايدي القادره على العمل بشكل افضل somethings.

I think Wilberforce had to be a professional politician to get voice in Britain during his time. واعتقد Wilberforce كان لابد من الفئة الفنية للحصول على صوت سياسي في بريطانيا اثناء وجوده. It is because of ongoing political reforms in favor of democracy that an outsider can wield more influence. ومن بسبب الاصلاحات السياسية الجاريه في صالح ان الديمقراطيه من الخارج يستطيع أن يمارس المزيد من النفوذ.

I wonder if there could have been an MLKjr if there had not been a Wilberforce/Tolstoy/Gandhi? واتساءل عما اذا كان من الممكن ان يكون هناك وجود mlkjr اذا لم يكن هناك Wilberforce / تولستوي / غاندي؟
I think we don’t appreciate enough just how important Wilberforce and the movement to abolish slavery in Great Britain was for later developments that influenced MLKjr. واعتقد اننا لا نقدر بما فيه الكفايه مدى اهمية Wilberforce وحركة لإلغاء الرق في بريطانيا العظمى كانت في وقت لاحق من التطورات التي اثرت في mlkjr. As such, I have serious problems with pointing to him and not professional politicians like Wilberforce as embodying how Xtns shd relate to the state. على هذا النحو ، انا عندي مشاكل خطيرة مع الاشارة اليه وليس سياسيين مثل Wilberforce المهنيه باعتبارها تجسد xtns كيف تتصل بالتنميه البشريه المستدامة الى الدولة.
We need a more Generous Orthopraxy in Church-State relations than the Hauerwasians tend to admit. ونحن بحاجة الى اكثر سخاء orthopraxy في العلاقات بين الكنيسة والدولة من hauerwasians تميل الى الإقرار بها.

You’re probably right about Willberforce helping pave the way for MLK. ربما كنت على حق willberforce مساعدة تمهيد الطريق لmlk. I don’t see Wilberforce’s actions as entirely misguided or bad or futile at all. انني لا ارى Wilberforce اجراءات تماما كما مضلله او سيئة او غير مجديه على الاطلاق. I have to admit; I like the term “Generous Orthopraxy”…that’d be an interesting title for an article or book. لا بد لي ان اعترف ؛ احب مصطلح "سخيه orthopraxy"… تريد ان تكون مثيرة للاهتمام عنوان لمقال أو كتاب.
I’m cool with critiquing Wilberforce. أنا رائع مع النقد Wilberforce.
Maybe we shd edit a book on “Generous Orthopraxy” for Xtn political involvement together? ربما نحن التنمية البشريه المستدامة تحرير كتاب عن "orthopraxy سخيه" لxtn المشاركة السياسية معا؟

dlw…how would a book like that work when I am not very generous in my orthopraxy (from your vantage point)? dlw… وكيف يمكن ان كتاب مثل هذا العمل عندما انا لا سخيه جدا في بلدي orthopraxy (من وجهة نظر الخاصة بك)؟ What would be the unifying theme/focus? ماذا سيكون موضوع موحد / التركيز؟
you know, I think we may be both too poor and too unknown to edit the book anyways, but I think it would be like Eddy and Beilby’s book on atonement, with a range of views on Church-State relations(focusing on specific topics) and interactions between writers. تعلمون ، واعتقد اننا قد نكون على درجة من الفقر على حد سواء وأيضا غير معروف لتحرير الكتاب على أي حال ، ولكن اعتقد انه سيكون مثل وادي beilby كتاب عن التكفير ، مع مجموعة من وجهات النظر حول العلاقات بين الكنيسة والدولة (مع التركيز على محددة المواضيع) والتفاعل بين الكتاب.

As for your relative lack of generosity from my pov, which I suppose could be turned around to me as well, I guess that would be a sticking point that might prevent the project from getting off the ground. اما بالنسبة لقريبك عدم وجود الكرم من وجهة نظري pov ، التي افترض يمكن ان ينتعش لي ايضا ، واعتقد انه سيكون العقبة التي قد تمنع من المشروع من الحصول على ارض الواقع. I think it is likely inevitable that the view of the state as playing a subsidiary role in the advancement of the kingship of God would come out ahead, as it combines, IMHO, the best aspects of the anabaptist/anarchist and liberal/activist models. وأعتقد انه من المرجح ان لا مفر منه نظرا للالدولة لعب دورا ثانويا في النهوض من الملوكيه الله تخرج الى الامام ، كما أنه يجمع بين ، imho ، فان افضل جوانب من قائل بتجديد عماد / الفوضوي والليبراليه / ناشط النماذج.
