Who Would Jesus Bomb? قنبلة من شأنه ان يسوع؟

The Pulse نبض , a local Twin Cities rag has a pretty interesting triad of articles, held together under the theme: Who Would Jesus Bomb? ، أ المحلية الشريكه له خرقه للاهتمام جميلة ثلاثية من المواد ، الى جانب عقد تحت شعار : من شأنه ان يسوع القنبله؟ The articles, المواد ، We are Babylon ونحن بابل , ، Jesus in his time and ours يسوع في وقته ولنا , and ، Radical pacifists face prison and fines for action at missile silos المتسالمون جذريه مواجهة السجن والغرامات للعمل في صوامع الصواريخ . The articles raise some interesting points, though I don’t agree with all of them. مواد تثير بعض النقاط المثيرة للاهتمام ، رغم انني لا اتفق مع كل منهم. Basically, they make the point that Jesus was a man of peace for the marginalized and we should be too. أساسا ، لأنها تحقق درجة ان يسوع كان رجل السلام والمهمشين ونحن ينبغي ان تكون اشد. They don’t go very much in depth, and what depths they plumb aren’t the ones that I would plumb. انهم لا يذهبون الى حد كبير في عمق ، والعمق ما الشاقول انها ليست تلك التي أود ان الشاقول. The thing I find most fascinating is that the Pulse would devote a cover and three articles to the subject. الشيء الاول هو ايجاد اروع ان نبضه من شأنه ان يكرس وتشمل المواد الثلاث لهذا الموضوع. While the articles certainly rip on fundamentalists (which isn’t surprising) they tend to elevate Jesus quite a bit (except the second article, perhaps). وفي حين ان المواد بالتأكيد على التمزق الأصوليين (وهو أمر لا يثير الدهشه) انها تميل الى رفع يسوع لا باس به (باستثناء المادة الثانية ، ربما).

Is this a sign that folks are interested in Jesus but have rejected the Jesus of the fundamentalists? هل هذا هو علامة على ان الناس مهتمون ولكن يسوع رفض يسوع من الاصوليين؟ Some would see this sort of “coverage” for Jesus as a good thing–that people really DO love Jesus, and if only the Church would get out of the way, people would flock to him. انظر البعض ان هذا النوع من "التغطيه" ليسوع كما أمر جيد - ان الناس حقا نحب يسوع ، واذا كان من شأنه ان الكنيسة الوحيدة للخروج من الطريق ، من شأنه أن الشعب قطيع له. Such a viewpoint seems gnostic to me. وجهة النظر هذه يبدو لي معرفي. Can we really offer Jesus without his Body? هل يمكننا فعلا العرض يسوع دون جسده؟ The Church may suck, but what, pray tell, is the alternative? الكنيسة قد تمتص ، ولكن ما ، وأقول للصلاة ، هو البديل؟

Others may see such “coverage” as a bad thing–that the Church is caving to popular movements and in-so-doing, they have given up the gospel. اخرى قد ترى مثل هذه "التغطيه" سيئا - ان الكنيسة هي رضوخ لتحركات شعبية و- في ما تفعل ، انها تخلت عن الانجيل. Probably because their definition of Gospel is uber-articulated. ربما لان الانجيل هو تعريف uber - عنها. The trouble is, the penal substitutionary view of the Gospel, along with a strong reformed understanding of justification are relatively recent innovations. المشكلة هي ، والعقوبات نظرا لتعويضي من الانجيل ، الى جانب قوى اصلاحها فهم مبررات تعد حديثة العهد نسبيا والابتكارات. They gain acsendancy in Europe after the Reformation largely because they fit the cultural mentality so well–the POPULAR mentality. وهم يكتسبون acsendancy في اوروبا بعد الاصلاح إلى حد كبير نظرا لأنها تناسب العقليه والثقافيه وحتى الشعبية جيدا عقليه. People liked views of salvation that didn’t feel Catholicish and tended to think of things in legal/transactional terms. آراء الشعب نود ان الخلاص لا يرى catholicish وتميل الى التفكير في الامور القانونية / من حيث المعاملات. Today, people like the idea that Jesus is a man of love who purchased salvation by suffering at the hands of evil men. اليوم ، الشعب ، مثل فكرة ان يسوع هو رجل الحب من شراء الخلاص من المعاناة على أيدي الأشرار. The Pacifist Jesus who took on the sins of humanity (rather than the wrath of God) has a much longer tradition. وقد اتخذ من يسوع سلمي على خطايا الانسانيه (بدلا من غضب الله) اطول بكثير التقاليد. Anabaptists didn’t invent Pacifist Jesus–he’s been there from the begining. لم يخترع قائلون بتجديد عماد سلمي يسوع - هو كان هناك منذ البداية. So, while it certainly could be the case that people are watering down the Gospel when they present Jesus as a pacifist, it isn’t necessarily the case. ذلك ، وفي حين انه يمكن ان يكون من المؤكد ان حالة الناس تمييع هذا الانجيل عندما يسوع بوصفه سلمي ، وهي ليست كذلك بالضروره.

My own opinion is that people really DO love Jesus and feel like the Church gets in the way…but they most likely love Jesus like they love Dr. King. ويرى بلدي ان الشعب هو حقا نحب يسوع ويشعر مثل الكنيسة يحصل في الطريق… لكنها على الارجح انها مثل حب يسوع الملك الدكتور حب. My suspicion is that these articles show that the people like the Jesus who shows us how to love one another, but probably aren’t interested in worshiping him. بلدي الشك هو ان هذه المواد تبين ان شخصا مثل يسوع ، من يبين لنا كيف يحب بعضنا بعضا ، ولكن ربما ليست مهتمة في عبادة له. My cynical side would probably say that articles like this give people a sort of guilt-release–by simply reading and agreeing with the articles, they identify themselves with the marginalized, absolving themselves from the guilt of the oppressor. بلدي الجانب الخبيث من المحتمل ان اقول ان مثل هذه المواد تعطي الناس نوعا من الشعور بالذنب - - ببساطة عن طريق الافراج عن القراءة والاتفاق مع المواد ، مع أنهم يعتبرون انفسهم المهمشين ، واعفاء أنفسهم من ذنب الظالم. It is like the white person who goes to the multi-ethnic church but never makes friends or takes a stand accross ethic boundaries. ومن مثل الابيض من شخص يذهب للكنيسة متعدد الأعراق ولكنه لم يجعل من الاصدقاء او يتخذ موقفا اخلاقيات عبر الحدود. Such a person can feel absolved from their white guilt because they have taken on a new identity-through-affiliation. مثل هذا الشخص يستطيع أن يشعر اعفي من الذنب الأبيض لأنها قد اتخذت على الهوية الجديدة - - من خلال الانتماء. And so it is with many who may read this article. وهذا هو الحال مع العديد من ايار / مايو من قراءة هذه المادة. They read and agree…and therefore aren’t part of the evil machine. انها قرأت ووافقت… وبالتالي ليست جزءا من آلة الشر. Never mind that their nylon-blend clothing, plastic ipod and ipod accessories, and hybrid car all thrive upon oil purchased with blood. ابدا اعتبارها ان مزيج من النايلون - الملابس والبلاستيك وايبود] ايبود] والاكسسوارات ، وجميع السيارات الهجينه على ازدهار النفط المشتراة من الدم.

Jesus didn’t die to simply show us an ethic of love. يسوع لم يمت لمجرد أن تظهر لنا اخلاقيات الحب. Jesus shows us a way of love, tis true. يسوع بطريقة تظهر لنا من الحب ، TIS صحيح. But he is the way of love. ولكنه هو طريق الحب. He calls us to follow him, no doubt, but to center our lives around him. وقال انه تدعونا الى اتباع له ، ولا شك ، ولكنها لمركز حياتنا حوله. He is Yahweh to us. وقال انه بالنسبة لنا هو اسم الله بالعبريه. Jesus tells us to take up our cross and follow him. يسوع يقول لنا ان تتناول والصليب ، ونحن معه. If we love pacifist Jesus, we can’t simply extricate ourselves from the evil machine by agreeing that the machine is evil. اذا كان لنا ان حب سلمي يسوع ، لا يمكننا ببساطة تخليص انفسنا من اله الشر من خلال الاتفاق ان الاله هو الشر. Nor can we be Christians simply by agreeing with a certain set of ideas. كما اننا لا نستطيع ببساطة ان المسيحيين من خلال الاتفاق مع مجموعة معينة من الافكار. If we want to identify with this Man who stands against evil (even as he absorbs the evil in his death) we must give ourselves to Him and his cause. واذا كنا نريد التعرف على هذا الرجل مع من يقف ضد الشر (حتى وهو يمتص الشر في وفاته) ويجب ان نعطي لانفسنا له وقضيته. We need to take up the cross. ونحن بحاجة الى تناول الصليب. We can’t simply avoid evil and injustice and unrighteousness, we must become peacemakers and lovebringers. ونحن ببساطة لا يمكن تجنب الشر والإثم والظلم ، يجب أن نصبح صانعي السلام وlovebringers.
