Out of Ur on Monasticism من اور على الرهبنه

Recently friends from a major publisher of Sunday school curriculum called me. في الآونة الأخيرة من الاصدقاء من ناشر رئيسي للالاحد المناهج المدرسية ودعا لي. They were researching trends in spiritual formation, they said, and they thought I might help them. كانوا البحث الروحي في تشكيل الاتجاهات ، على حد قولهم ، وانهم يعتقدون انني يمكن ان تساعدهم.

After a few warm-up questions, they got to the heart of the matter: “What would you recommend for spiritual formation in our time?” وبعد بضعة اسءله الاحماء ، وصلوا الى صلب الموضوع : "بماذا تنصحين لتشكيل الروحيه في عصرنا هذا؟"

“The monastery,” I said. "الدير" ، قلت.

There was a long pause. وكان هناك وقفة طويلة.

“I?m serious,” I said. "انا؟ م الخطيره ،" قلت.

I had someone tell me recently that “new monasticism” isn’t new…it’s the same thing as a Christian commune. كنت قد أخبرني احدهم مؤخرا ان "الرهبنه الجديدة" ليست جديدة… انه يختلف عن المسيحيه المحلية. This article reminds me that not only is new monasticism not new, but it is in touch with the Tradition in a way that the communes of recent decades were not. هذه المادة لا يذكرني الا ان الجديد هو ان الرهبنه ليست جديدة ، ولكنها في اتصال مع التقليد المتبع في طريقه الى ان البلديات في العقود الأخيرة لم تكن. New monasticism unashamedly draws from the monastic tradition and seeks to root itself in theological and spiritual soil. توجه جديد الرهبنه خجل من التقاليد الرهبانيه ، ويسعى الى الجذر نفسه اللاهوتيه والروحيه في التربة. Not that communes of the past were uninterested in such things. إلا أن البلديات من الماضي كانت غير مهتمة في مثل هذه الامور. But it seems to me that “new monastics” are more intentional about deep spirituality, missional engagement, and working with the larger Body of Christ. ولكن يبدو لي ان "monastics جديدة" اكثر متعمد عن القيم الروحيه العميقه ، missional الاشتباك ، والعمل مع اكبر جسد المسيح. The biggest difference is perhaps that new monastic communities center around a “rule of faith”–which is what makes a group an order, rather than merely a group of Christians who live together. اكبر فرق هو ربما ان المجتمعات مركز رهباني جديدة حول "قاعدة الايمان" - وهو ما يجعل من مجموعة أمر ، بدلا من مجرد مجموعة من المسيحيين من العيش معا.
