Re:Envisioning the Church, a review Re: Envisioning a Igreja, uma revisão

Last night my friend Joel Nelson and I finished our spring quarter course at Bethel Seminary– Re:Envisioning the Church: An Adventure in Applied Ecclesiology. We proposed the course in the fall, and at that time it felt like a long-shot. Na noite passada o meu amigo Joel Nelson e eu terminar o nosso curso em Primavera quarto Seminário Bethel-Re: Envisioning a Igreja: Uma Aventura na Aplicada eclesiologia. Propusemos o curso na queda, e nessa altura senti-la como um longa-shot. After all, I was still a student, and though I feel like I’m being faithful in my ministy context, few would call us a success-story. Afinal de contas, eu ainda era um estudante, e embora eu sinto como eu estou sendo fiel a meu ministy contexto, poucos ia chamar-nos uma história de sucesso. But my desire to have a course at the seminary where students could actually do constructive ecclesiology washed away my feelings of inadequacy and propriety. Mas o meu desejo de ter um curso no seminário onde os alunos possam fazer realmente construtivo eclesiologia lavados meus sentimentos de inadequação e sobriedade. The course was accepted and we had plenty of students register, thus securing it for spring 2006. O curso foi aceite e tivemos abundância de estudantes registo, assegurando desta forma que para a Primavera de 2006.

This has been my favorite seminary experience. Esta tem sido a minha favorita seminário experiência. I didn’t feel like the teacher…and the students didn’t feel like students. Eu não sinto como… o professor e os estudantes não se sentir como alunos. It felt as though we had gone through a 3 month adventure with one another. Ele sentiu como se tivéssemos ido 3 meses através de uma aventura com um outro. My friends and I struggled through important issues, voiced our frustrations with the Church in America, hoped with one another as we each began to re-envision the church within our own contexts. Meus amigos e eu lutava através de questões importantes, expressou a nossa frustrações com a Igreja na América, esperava um com o outro, pois cada um começou a re-encaramos a igreja dentro de nossas próprias contextos.

And we each came from different contexts. E nós todos vieram de diferentes contextos. Our group was disproportionately diverse. O nosso grupo era desproporcionalmente diversas. Urban, suburban and rural. Urbanos, suburbanos e rurais. Black, white, and asian. Preto, branco, e asiáticos. Presbyterian, Methodist, Baptist, charismatic, Lutheran, and others. Presbiteriana, Metodista, Batista, carismático, Luterana, e outros. Men, women and (for one evening anyway) a child. Homens, mulheres e (por uma noite qualquer maneira) uma criança. We all came together and sharpened one another. Estamos todos juntos e veio um outro afiado. It was what seminary is supposed to be. Foi aquilo que é suposto ser seminário.

I actually experienced the gratitude of some of these friends of mine. Eu realmente viveu a gratidão de alguns destes amigos da mina. Some said it was the most important class they’ve had at seminary. Alguns disseram que era a classe mais importante que eles tinham em seminário. Others said that it was the most practical. Outros disseram que era o mais prático. Others remarked that it should be part of the core-curriculum. Outros comentou que ele deveria ser parte do núcleo de currículo. One said that he sees everything in a completely new way. Um disse que ele vê tudo de uma forma completamente nova. Others said nothing. Outros disseram nada. There are a few students that I wonder to myself if they really appreciated the class, but the overwhelming sense was that this class meant something. Há alguns estudantes que me pergunto a mim mesmo se eles realmente apreciaram a classe, mas a esmagadora sentimento era que esta classe significava algo. We finished the class at 9:45pm last night, but I didn’t leave until nearly 11:00pm. Estamos acabados a classe em 9:45 pm última noite, mas eu não sair até quase 11:00 hs. I stayed to talk with various students. Não estou a falar com vários alunos. Some of us hugged. Alguns de nós abraçaram. It was more like the end of a week of camp than it was the end of a seminary class. Foi mais como o fim de uma semana de acampamento do que era o final de um seminário classe. I was moved. Fiquei emocionada. It was good. Foi bom.
