One of my frustrations these days is how much crap is being published.  There are many good books being published, but some are just terrible.  Even people I respect have published books that are poorly written, with half-developed ideas.  I sometimes wonder if some people care more about writing a book than they care about having something to say.  I’ve daydreamed about writing a book–lots of us have.  But I only want to write a book if it really serves the church.  And I only want to do it if it is tastefully "packaged", non-hypey, and doesn’t reek of self-promotion. Uma das minhas frustrações estes dias é o quanto crap está sendo publicado. Existem muitos bons livros que estão sendo publicadas, mas apenas algumas são terríveis. Mesmo as pessoas que eu respeito tenham publicado livros que são mal escrito, com meia-desenvolvido ideias. Às vezes eu pergunto se algumas pessoas se preocupem mais sobre como escrever um livro sobre cuidados do que eles terem alguma coisa a dizer. Eu daydreamed sobre como escrever um livro de lotes de nós. Mas eu só quero escrever um livro se ele realmente serve a igreja. E eu só quero a fazê-lo se for bom gosto "embalados", não-hypey, e não reek de auto-promoção.

Every once in a while someone suggests that I write a book…a few times the person suggesting has been prominent or connected enough for me to think "I really could write a book if I wanted to." De vez em quando alguém sugere que eu escreva um livro… algumas vezes a pessoa tenha sido destacado ou sugerindo ligado suficiente para mim a pensar "Eu realmente poderia escrever um livro se eu queria". But up until this point, I am a bit ashamed to admit that I cared more about writing a book than I’ve cared about having something to say. Mas até esse ponto, estou um pouco envergonhado de admitir que me cuidado mais sobre como escrever um livro do que eu cuidadas sobre ter algo a dizer.

I really think I’m at a place where I have something to say, and could say it in a way that honors Christ.  The idea is this: Cultivating Communities of Resistance– a book written by practitioners who have struggled to help shape the local church into a faithful community which resists some of the "powers" in our culture.  Communities which resist racism, consumerism, poverty, etc.  I think a book like this should be written, offering real examples of communities that are trying to live out their faith.  And while I think I can contribute to this book (in the area of consumerism), the book would be much better if there were others contributing as well.  And so, I am actively looking for folks that are intersted in contributing to such a work. Eu realmente acho que estou em um lugar onde eu tenho algo a dizer, e pode dizer-lo de uma forma que homenageia Cristo. A ideia é esta: Comunidades cultivo de Resistência-um livro escrito por profissionais que têm lutado para ajudar a moldar o local Igreja em uma comunidade que resiste aos fiéis algumas das "competências" em nossa cultura. Comunidades que resistir contra o racismo, o consumismo, pobreza, etc Penso que um livro como este deveria ser escrita, oferecendo exemplos reais das comunidades que estão tentando viver as suas fé. E, embora eu acho que pode contribuir para esse livro (na área do consumismo), o livro seria muito melhor se houvesse outros contribuindo também. E assim, sinto-me activamente à procura de pessoas que estão em contribuir para tal intersted um trabalho.
