Yesterday during lunch, my friend Joel and I started discussing church "success." أمس اثناء وجبة الغداء ، صديقي وأنا جويل بدأ المجلس مناقشته الكنيسة "النجاح". What would success look like for ما يمكن ان تبدو للنجاح Missio Dei Missio dei ? ؟ As much as I reject church-growth principles, I found it very difficult to articulate success in non-quantitative ways. وبقدر ما ارفض الكنيسة - مبادئ النمو ، وجدت انه من الصعب جدا التعبير عن النجاح في طرق غير كمي. The American way of doing church has been thoroughly infused with pragmatism. Most of you who read this blog would agree with this assessment, and would agree that we need to move away from quantitative methods for determining "success" to something more qualitative. One problem with quantitative methods is that is doesn’t take context into consideration (any urban teacher who must raise standardized testing scores in order to keep his/her job will resonate with this reality). Every context has unique challenges. A Somali church should be evaluated differently than a suburban white church. الطريقة الاميركية ان تفعل الكنيسة تم بدقة موازين الواقعية. معظمكم قراءة هذا بلوق من شأنه ان نتفق مع هذا التقييم ، ونحن متفقون على أن الحاجة إلى الابتعاد عن الاساليب الكميه لتحديد "النجاح" الى شيء أكثر نوعية. مشكلة واحدة مع الاساليب الكميه هي التي لا تأخذ في الاعتبار السياق (أي من المعلمين في المناطق الحضريه يجب ان الاختبار الموحد رفع عشرات من اجل الحفاظ على بلدة / سيكون لها صدى وظيفتها مع هذا الواقع). السياق كل التحديات الفريده. أ الصوماليه ينبغي ان تقيم الكنيسة أ تختلف عن الضواحي الابيض الكنيسة.
What method should we employ? Why evaluate the health of a church at all? Well, it is good to know what is healthy within a church system and what is not, so that it may move to health. I suggest we take a page out of church history and return to the language of "marks"–what are the "marks" of a successful church? ما ينبغي لنا ان استخدام طريقة ، ولماذا تقيم كنيسة من الصحة على الاطلاق؟ ايضا ، انه لأمر طيب ان نعرف ما هو صحي في اطار نظام الكنيسة ، وبين ما لا ، حتى يتسنى له الانتقال الى الصحة. اقترح ان نأخذ وخروج الصفحه من تاريخ الكنيسة والعودة الى لغة "علامات" - ما هي "العلامات" للنجاح الكنيسة؟
I’d like to hear some of your suggestions…but let me get the list started: على المستوى الشخصي أود ان اسمع بعض الاقتراحات الخاصة بك… ولكن اسمحوا لي ان احصل على قائمة بدا :
- Characterized by generosity and self sacrifice. تتميز السخاء والتضحيه الذاتية.
- Practices hospitality. الممارسات الضيافة.
- Moving beyond homogeneity to diversity in age, class, race, gender, ethnicity, etc. in a way that reflects context. تجاوز التجانس الى التنوع في السن ، او الطبقة ، او العرق ، او الجنس ، العرق ، الخ في شكل يعكس السياق.
- Proclaims the Gospel. يعلن الانجيل.

The Gospel and Our Culture Network has a list online that is fairly “objective” without being “quantitative” in the way you’re talking about here. الانجيل وثقافتنا شبكة الانترنت ان قائمة الى حد ما "الهدف" دون ان "الكميه" في الطريقة التي كنت اتحدث عن هنا.
It’s called “Emperical Indicators of a Missional Church.” انه يدعى "المؤشرات التجريبيه من missional الكنيسة".

Maybe this is covered in hospitality, but growing in intimacy with eachother. ربما يكون هذا المشموله في الضيافة ، ولكنه ينمو في العلاقة الحميمه مع eachother. Confessing sins to eachother and spurring eachother on towards holiness seems to be necessary as well. Eachother الى الاعتراف ذنوب ودفع eachother على نحو القداسه ويبدو ان من الضروري ايضا.
When thinking on a question like this several things come to mind. عندما افكر على سؤال عن مثل هذه الامور عدة تتبادر الى الاذهان. Firstly the church should be a place which clearly proclaims that Jesus is the all satisfying hope of mankind. اولا الكنيسة ينبغي ان تكون المكان الذي يعلن بوضوح ان يسوع هو ارضاء جميع الأمل للبشرية. The gospel is not about the Lord making our lives better, but removing the barriers (sin) so that we can come to God and enjoy/glorify him. الانجيل ليس عن الرب جعل حياتنا افضل ، ولكن إزالة الحواجز (هادئ) حتى نستطيع ان نأتي الى الله والتمتع / تمجيد له.
For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. لمات المسيح لخطايا مرة واحدة للجميع ، من الصالحين لاثيم ، وتجلب لك الله. 1 Peter 3:18 1 بيتر 3:18
Next the church should be a place of genuine community. الكنيسة المقبل ينبغي ان تكون مكانا حقيقيا للمجتمع. Where believers can experience life together and display the love of Christ amongst each other حيث يمكن للتجربة حياة المؤمنين والعرض معا في حب المسيح بين بعضها البعض
All the believers were one in heart and mind. جميع المؤمنين في واحد قلبا وقالبا. No one claimed that any of his possessions was his own, but they shared everything they had. لا أحد يدعي ان اي من ممتلكاته هو بلده ، ولكنها كانت كل شيء مشترك. Acts 4:32 أعمال 4:32
Lastly the Church should be the hands and feet of Jesus in a fallen world. واخيرا ينبغي ان تكون الكنيسة اليدين والقدمين يسوع سقط في العالم. We should be active in our communities bringing the love of Christ to those around us. ونحن ان تكون نشطة في مجتمعاتنا المحلية وبذلك حب المسيح لتلك حولنا. Those outside of the Church often know us by what we are against. من هم خارج الكنيسة في كثير من الاحيان نعرف ما لنا نحن ضد. The body of Christ has become a large mouth, only known for telling everyone how bad they are. جسد المسيح لقد اصبح كبير الفم ، إلا ويعرف الجميع كيف نقول انها سيئة. The Church is the hands of Christ bringing his compassion to our neighborhoods. ان الكنيسة هي يد المسيح لجلب له الرحمه ونحن احياء.

You have asked a wonderful question. كنت قد طلبت راءعه هذه المساله. I am a member of San Clemente Presbyterian Church and we are fortunate to be a fast growing church in South Orange County, CA. انا عضو في سان كليمنتي والكنيسة المشيخيه ونحن محظوظون ان يكون النمو السريع للكنيسة في جنوب مقاطعة أورانج ، كاليفورنيا. Our pastor, Dr. Tod Bolsinger (bolsinger.blogs.com) is putting together a team focused on coming up with a vision for what we would like to be in 2035 when non of us are likely to be at the church. ونحن القس الدكتور tod bolsinger (bolsinger.blogs.com) هو تجميع وركز الفريق على الخروج مع رؤية للما نود ان يكون في 2035 عندما لنا من غير المحتمل ان تكون في الكنيسة.

Thanks for your reply. شكرا لردكم. I think it will be an exciting challenge for our church to go through thinking, praying and studying about, especially since we appear to be a “healthy church”. واعتقد انه سيكون مثيرا للتحدي لنا الذهاب الى الكنيسة عن طريق التفكير ، ودراسة عن الصلاة ، خصوصا اننا ويبدو ان "الكنيسة صحيه".
I don’t have any theological training so I am not sure exactly what definition you are using for “right doctrine”. ليس لدي اي تدريب حتى اللاهوتيه ولست متأكدا بالضبط ما كنت تستخدم تعريف ل"مذهب الحق". However I do believe it is important for any church to be successful that it has at its basis, Scripture as its ultimate foundation. ولكن اعتقد ان من المهم لأي كنيسة ان تكون ناجحه لأنها في الأساس ، لأن النص النهائي للمؤسسة.
I think there are some “quantitatively” successful churches with respect to attendance and involvment that may not be 100% doctrinally right, but rather preaching a version of Christianity that has nothing to do with its communal aspects and only about the positives of Christ’s teachings, not some of the harder to follow print in red. واعتقد ان هناك بعض "كميا" النجاح في الكنائس فيما يتعلق الحضور والمشاركة التي قد لا تكون 100 ٪ بشكل مذهبي الحق ، وانما الوعظ نسخة من المسيحيه ان لا علاقة له مع الجوانب المجتمعيه وفقط عن ايجابيات المسيح التعاليم ، وليس البعض من صعوبة في متابعة طباعة الاحمر.
I think the qualitative portion must come before the quanitative analysis, but ultimately both are relevant to giving a good answer. واعتقد ان الجزء النوعي يجب ان تأتي قبل quanitative التحليل ، ولكن في نهاية المطاف ان تكون ذات صلة جيدة لاعطاء الجواب.

I find it interesting that in your list you did not include “coversions” as a way of measuring church health. وأجد ان اهتمام في قاءمتك انت لم تشمل "coversions" بوصفها وسيلة لقياس الصحة الكنيسة. Its easy to be internally focused on what keeps the christians happy, but lets agree, most churches that are growing are growing from the “alumni association” not from reaching the lost. من السهل ان تكون دورته داخليا على التركيز على ما تبقى سعيدة المسيحيين ، ولكنه يتيح الاتفاق ، فان معظم الكنائس التي تنمو وتتزايد من "جمعية خريجي" ليس من الوصول المفقودة. A church that can do that effectively while simultaneously building up disciples is healthy. كنيسة يمكن ان نفعل ذلك على نحو فعال فى نفس الوقت بناء التوابع هو في صحه جيدة. Right? أليس كذلك؟

I didn’t offer a complete list…I only offered a few examples to get discussion flowing. انا لا تقدم قائمة كاملة… إلا انني عرضت امثلة قليلة للحصول على مناقشة المتدفقه. I’d agree that conversions are important. أنا نتفق على ان تحويلات مهمة. But I’d want to value them in a way that isn’t dependent upon numbers. ولكن أنا أريد ان قيمة لها على نحو لا يعتمد على الأرقام. Numbers are a very tricky thing to base a church culture upon and are often misleading. ارقام دقيقة جدا لشيء قاعدة بناء كنيسة الثقافة وكثيرا ما تكون مضلله. In one context a few converts is huge, in other contexts many converts may be normal…but each church has different contexts. في سياق واحد هو تحويل عدد قليل ضخمة ، في سياقات اخرى كثيرة يمكن ان يحول العادي… ولكن كل الكنيسة سياقات مختلفة. Furthermore some ministries go for “easy converts” while others try to make disciples. وفضلا عن الذهاب لبعض الوزارات "من السهل تحويل" والبعض الاخر في محاولة لجعل التوابع. All these sort of things need to be factored in as well. كل هذه الامور نوعا من الحاجة الى ان يكون عاملا ايضا.

You are absolutely right that measuring success by numbers in any category of ministry can be misleading. انت على حق تماما ان قياس مدى النجاح في الاعداد من جانب اي فئة من وزارة يمكن ان تكون مضلله. It assumes there is a standard that even God recognizes. وهو يفترض وجود معيار الله حتى تسلم. Certainly there are churches that have huge membership roles but are not focused on Jesus Christ. بالتأكيد ، هناك الكنائس التي لها عضوية ادوار هاءله ولكنها لا تركز على يسوع المسيح. Didn’t Jesus say something like, “In that day many will come to me and say ‘Did we not cast out demons and heal the sick in your name….etc.’ And I will say to them, I never knew you.”Anyway thanks for your quick reply. لا تقول شيئا مثل يسوع ، "في ذلك اليوم كثير من سيأتي ويقول لي' اننا لم لا يلقى بها الشياطين وشفاء المرضى في اسمك…. إلخ 'وانا لن اقول لهم انني كنت اعرف ابدا.
