Hey tudo… você é convidado a nosso recolhimento seguinte da publicação. Nosso recolhimento seguinte da publicação é esta quarta-feira em 8pm no Brewery de salão de cidade. Nosso tópico da discussão será: “Relacionamentos na idade da eletrônica.”
A idade da eletrônica aumentou nossa abilidade de emitir e receber a informação, mas diminuiu nossa abilidade e/ou a qualidade de nossos relacionamentos? Nossos testes padrões de relacionar-se mudaram nesta idade da eletrônica. Há alguns benefícios reais às maneiras novas e variadas de uma comunicação, mas houve uns custos. Junte-nos como nós discutimos as maneiras em que nossas maneiras de se relacionar a uma outra e ao deus foram dadas forma por nosso uso crescente da eletrônica de uma comunicação. Os povos de todas as fé e fundos são bem-vindos.

Since I started at Next-Wave and followed you here…what I find intriguing about your header is the word “Van”…and I’ve had a few Dutch friends with “Van” in their names and they tell me it’s because nobody in the Netherlands owns a “Truck”…Is this true?
Power Failure is as much about consumerism as it is technology (since both feed one another and have shaped the American landscape). Technology and consumerism have shaped our culture, and when Christians are shaped by this culture of consumption and technology, the Gospel is undercut. Here is a quote from the introduction that does a better job of summarizing the argument of the book than I can come up with:
“What kind of liberation is it that technology has promised? What sort of riches has technology produced? Do we in fact feel free? Are we truly prospering? These questions go largely unasked in our national conversation. We seem to be stricken with a subclinical malady of doubt and sometimes despair. But in this…trouble there lies hope as well. Perhaps underneath the surface of technological liberty and propserity there is a sense of captivity and deprivation, and we may hope that once we understand technology more incisively and clearly, there will be good news once again.”
I haven’t read Holding On To Reality, but based upon what I’ve heard about it, and who wrote it, I assume it is worth reading.

Actually, I think “Van” simply means “from”…so “Van Steenwyk” means that I am from the town of “Steenwyk”, which is actually spelled “Steenwijk” in Dutch.
