Call Me Crazy, But… (my response to Emergent’s Latest Press Release) دعوة لي مجنون ، ولكن… (ردي على الناشءه احدث نشرة صحفية)

Today, Emergent announced that they are adapting to expand to their growing influence.  This means that they will be bulking up organizationally and naming Tony Jones as a full time director.  Read more about that واليوم ، اعلنت انها طارئة وتتكيف لتوسيع نطاق النفوذ المتنامي ل. وهذا يعني انها ستكون bulking وتنظيميا وحتى تسمية توني جونز كعضو كامل وقت المدير. أقرأ المزيد عن هذا الموضوع here هنا .

Now, before I launch into my critique, I want to share some of my thoughts regarding Emergent in general.  I used to be really cynical about them.  If you read my blog about الآن ، وأود قبل البدء في نقد بلدي ، اريد ان اشاطركم بعض أفكاري فيما يتعلق الناشءه في العام الاول كان يتم السخريه حقا عن الطرف الآخر. إذا كنت اقرأ عن بلدي بلوق Christian Kitsch المسيحيه الفن الهابط , you’ll know why.  While there has always been a core to Emergent that I respect (its adventerously constructive approach to theology and ecclesiology), there have been some flavors among some who identify themselves with Emergent that are less than exciting–the INCREASED homogeneity, the sometimes willy-nilly slapping together of traditional elements into a sort of digitized frankenstein of pomo-sacramentalism, the over-reaction and over-rejection of established churches, etc.  Nevertheless, I have found the movement as a whole to be helpful and neccesary.  There is some good thinking coming out of Emergent, and I think the discussion has gotten better and richer over time.  I was getting more and more on board…more willing to engage and identify myself with Emergent… ، انت تعرف السبب. وبينما كان دائما الاساسية الناشءه الي ان احترم (وadventerously نهج بناء لاهوت وecclesiology) ، كانت هناك بعض النكهات بين بعض من يعتبرون انفسهم مع الناشءه التي هي اقل من الزياده المثيرة - التجانس ، واحيانا بصورة عشواءيه الصفع معا من العناصر التقليديه الى نوع من frankenstein رقمية من pomo - sacramentalism ، والافراط فى رد الفعل وأكثر - رفض انشاء الكنائس ، وما الى ذلك ، لقد وجدت الحركة ككل الى ان تكون مفيدة وضروري. هناك بعض التفكير جيدا الخروج من الناشءه ، واعتقد ان المناقشه قد بدأت على نحو افضل واغنى مع مرور الوقت. كنت الحصول على المزيد والمزيد على متنها اكثر… على استعداد للمشاركة والتعرف على نفسي الناشءه…

But then today, they announced that they are beefing themselves up organizationally.  That might not seem like a big idea to most of you.  To me, however, this is a huge mis-step. ولكن بعد ذلك اليوم ، اعلنوا انهم هم انفسهم الشكوى تنظيميا. قد لا يبدو مثل فكرة كبيرة لمعظم لكم. لي ، ولكن هذا هو خطوة هاءله خطاء.

don’t see what purpose it serves at this point to strenghten the لا ارى ما يخدم الغرض في هذه المرحلة لتعزيز
Center. مركز. Saying that Emergent is "a conversation" when it is وقال ان ظاهر هو "حديث" في حين انه
increasingly looking institutional isn’ta good thing. تبحث بشكل متزايد المءسسيه isn'ta جيد. Fostering تعزيز
conversation through a centralized conference seems to me to be a way المحادثة من خلال مركزي المؤتمر يبدو لي ان يكون وسيلة

after people caught the flavor, I’d close up shop and let the movement بعد ان يدرك الناس نكهه ، انا عن قرب على المحلات واسمحوا الحركة
take over. تولى. Call me crazy, but it seems to me that the only reason to دعوة لي مجنون ، ولكن يبدو لي أن السبب الوحيد ل
bolster the organization and take advantage of new organizational دعم المنظمه والاستفادة من تنظيمية جديدة
networks is to manage the conversation and make sure that it develops شبكات لادارة المحادثة وتأكد من ان يطور
towards a desired end-result. نحو الهدف المنشود - نتيجة لذلك. That isn’t an inherently bad thing to do, وهي ليست بطبيعتها سيئة الشيء ،
per se, but it is no longer a conversation, and it isn’t exactly a في حد ذاتها ، ولكنه لم يعد حديث ، وانها ليست بالضبط
