A Christmas Poem
Written by Mark Van Steenwyk : December 20, 2004
I don’t write much poetry, but I wrote the following as an act of worship to our Lord:
Ode to a Forgotten Babe
When Yuletide bliss
forgets
the somber tone of Deity enfleshed,
and when gaiety thick
stifles
contemplation of the odorous manger;
when all the world
tethers
the numinous to a pine bough,
We will remember you,
We will make room for you.
We will wonder at you.
