Heretical Anabaptists Hérétique anabaptistes

I had a good chat on Thursday with a couple Jehovah’s Witnesses that came to my door. J'ai eu une bonne discussion le jeudi avec un couple Témoins de Jéhovah qui est venu à ma porte. Before they got into their pitch too much, I shocked them by telling them that I agreed with where they were coming from (that things took a bad turn in the 4th century when the Roman State and the Church became intertwined. The difference between them and myself, I explained, was that they throw out the baby with the bathwater. Many evangelicals today have an anabaptist edge–feeling that the Constantinian turn was a mistake and that the collapse of Christendom is a relatively good thing. But we are orthodox; yet Jehovah’s Witnesses are not. They are heretical anabaptists. I am sympathetic to where they are coming from, but they just went too far. Avant ils se sont dans leur hauteur trop, je choqué les en leur disant que j'étais d'accord avec où ils venaient de (que les choses ont pris un mauvais tournant dans la 4 e siècle, lorsque l'État romain et l'Église est devenue intimement liés. La différence entre eux et moi-même, j'ai expliqué, c'est qu'ils jeter le bébé avec l'eau du bain. De nombreux évangéliques ont aujourd'hui une anabaptist-bord sentiment que le Constantinian son tour, était une erreur et que l'effondrement de la chrétienté est une relativement bonne chose. Mais nous sommes orthodoxes, et pourtant Témoins de Jéhovah ne le sont pas. Ils sont hérétiques anabaptistes. Je suis sympathique à l'endroit où ils sont en provenance, mais ils sont allés trop loin.

We had a great conversation–something that is hard to have with a JW, since they are trained not to get into discussions–about what is wrong with the church today. Nous avons eu une grande conversation que quelque chose est difficile d'avoir avec une JW, car ils sont formés de ne pas tomber dans des discussions sur-ce qui ne va pas avec l'Eglise aujourd'hui. I resonated with what the senior JW (the one training the college aged student who accompanied him) had to say. Je écho à ce que les hauts JW (un collège de formation des élèves âgés qui l'accompagnaient) avait à dire. He had a firm grasp of the perils of trying to forge an alliance between the church and the American Way. Il avait une entreprise de saisir les dangers d'essayer de forger une alliance entre l'église et l'American Way.

I am passionately Orthodox. Je suis passionnément orthodoxes. I am jazzed about the doctrine of the Trinity, the Virgin Birth, etc., but something in me has to wonder…which is worse: to be, like this JW fellow, a heretic with a Kingdom mindset, or a horribly stereotypical sort of Christain–who is greedy, self-absorbed, consumeristic, and lacking in love, yet who still affirms the creed? Je suis jazzed sur la doctrine de la Trinité, la Vierge de naissance, etc, mais quelque chose en moi a… à se demander qui est pire: être, à l'instar de ce JW boursier, un hérétique avec un royaume d'esprit, ou un horrible genre de stéréotypes Christain-qui est gourmand, l'auto-absorption, consumeristic, et qui manque de l'amour, mais qui affirme encore le credo?

Don’t get me wrong. Ne vous méprenez pas. Orthodoxy is incredibly important. L'orthodoxie est extrêmement important. But there is more than Orthodoxy. Mais il ya plus de l'orthodoxie.
